Consists of articles, letters, speeches, and clippings pertaining to the Wright Brothers collected by the Air Force Museum at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton. Subjects covered include removal of Wright buildings from Dayton, interviews and personal history of the Wrights, the Smithsonian-Langley controversy, obituaries, funerals, and miscellaneous aviation materials.

Scope and Contents

This booklet documents the moving of the Air Force Museum's aircraft from their old location to their new home in 1971. It details the logistics of transporting the aircraft and also contains a number of photographs of each of the aircraft in various stages of the move. The booklet was the property of Robert Countrymen who worked at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base and took part in the move.

Abstract

William F. Patterson, a prominent commercial photographer in the Dayton area, has been photographing the work of local architects, businesses, and events since the 1960s. This collection includes approximately 20,000 negatives, slides, transparencies, and photographs taken by Patterson for commercial clients and placement in books, advertisements, catalogs, and brochures. Patterson's work also includes approximately 10,000 images from his travels throughout Europe and North America.
